Rules
Please carefully read our rules and regulations as failure to comply could result in disqualification
REGISTRATIONS/ ENTRIES
- Only Dance Schools can register for Destination Dance and Independent entries are not accepted. A dance school is considered one or more dancers competing under one name.
- Ages is determined by how your old you are on the day of the competition.
- Duo/Trio and Group ages are determined by the average age of the dancers.
- If a protest regarding age arises, all competitors must be prepared to present proof of age.
- Solo performers may never compete against themselves in the same age or performance category.
- There is a limit of 3 solos per person.
- ALL competitors are the sole responsibility of their dance school/ studio, DESTINATION DANCE is NOT responsible for any competitor. ALL entrants under the age of 18 must be chaperoned by a nominated adult at any competition run by DESTINATION DANCE. The chaperones will be accountable for the behaviour and welfare of minors at all our events and must be DBS checked.
- It is advisable to wear footwear suitable for your performance category
- No dangerous props may be used such as fire, swords, knives etc.
- General props and gymnastics mats are allowed.
- No form of liquids (including water), gels, aerosols, glitter, or confetti, etc. which may affect the stage surface, may be used during a routine.
- All props must be in place within 1 minute please ensure all props backstage must be labelled with School/ Studio name for identification purposes.
- No additional sound equipment or microphones may be used or connected to the DESTINATION DANCE sound system.
- Sportsmanlike behaviour is expected at all times, failure to display proper decorum could result in immediate disqualification.
- All music must be entered into your registration page no later than one month before the competition. Failure to do so may result in the act not being able to perform.
- WE DO NOT ACCEPT MUSIC ON THE DAY OF COMPETITION
- No changes to entries will be allowed after the competition closing date.
- All rights reserved to DESTINATION DANCE to use competitor photographs and or videos or to appear on local and/ or national television and/ or promotional material
- Spectators/ members of the audience are expected to treat all competitors with respect and refrain from making unnecessary noise or movement during performances, however once performances are complete cheering and encouragement are very welcome
- Balance must be paid in FULL no later that one month before the competition. All entries that are not paid for in full by the closing date will not be allowed to compete.
- NO REFUNDS
- DESTINATION DANCE and the hosting facility are not responsible for personal injury or property loss.
- DESTINATION DANCE reserves the right to add or reduce competition days or move the competition location due to unforeseen circumstance
- Any change in competition days and/ or times is at the sole discretion of DESTINATION DANCE and will be determined by the amount of time available at each Competition.
- ALL ENTRIES MUST COMPETE ON THE DAY AND TIME ASSIGNED ALL ENTRIES WHICH DO NOT COMPETE AT THEIR ASSIGNED DAY AND TIME WILL AUTOMATICALLY BE ADJUDICATED AND WILL NOT BE ELIGIBLE FOR HIGH SCORE OR BE AWARDED 1ST PLACE
- Please ensure entries are stage appropriate and do NOT contain explicit or inappropriate content.
Child Safeguarding Policy

Destination Dance acknowledges the duty of care to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and is committed to ensuring safeguarding practice reflects statutory responsibilities. The policy recognises that the welfare and interests of children are paramount in all circumstances.
It aims to ensure that regardless of age, ability or disability, gender reassignment, race, religion or belief, sex or sexual orientation, socio-economic background, all children
• have a positive and enjoyable experience of dance at Destination Dance Competition in a safe and child centred environment
• are protected from abuse whilst participating in our Dance Competition.
As part of our safeguarding policy Destination Dance will
• promote and prioritise the safety and wellbeing of children and young people
• ensure everyone understands their roles and responsibilities in respect of safeguarding and is provided with appropriate learning opportunities to recognise, identify and respond to signs of abuse, neglect and other safeguarding concerns relating to children and young people
• ensure appropriate action is taken in the event of incidents/concerns of abuse and support provided to the individual/s who raise or disclose the concern
• ensure that confidential, detailed and accurate records of all safeguarding concerns are maintained and securely stored • prevent the employment/deployment of unsuitable individuals
• ensure robust safeguarding arrangements and procedures are in operation.
For those participating in Destination Dance:
Specific Needs
Some children may have specific needs. If this is the case please contact Destination Dance prior to arrival so we can seek to meet those needs.
Supervision
For the duration of the competition all teachers/parents/guardians/carers are responsible for the continuous care and supervision of their own children/pupils. If they are unable to attend personally, they must delegate their responsibilities to an identified adult and ensure that their children/pupils are aware of the identity and name of the person responsible for their care. This includes supervision throughout all competition venues, practice and changing areas that may be provided. The Competition cannot take responsibility for any property left unattended.
Photography and Video
• Photography and video are permitted during our events. If you see someone taking pictures or video a child that is not theirs or part of their dance school, please report it to Destination Dance staff. Please also ensure that any image of a child does not place him/her at risk or render him/her vulnerable to any form of abuse.
• Destination Dance takes professional photos and videos during its events, if you do not wish for your child to appear in photos or videos used in promotional or social media, ensure that Destination Dance is made aware before the event.
Consent
By entering a Destination Dance competition, all parents / guardians / carers and teachers and chaperones of entrants under 18 confirm that they agree to abide the above Safeguarding policy.
