The 635-seat Wyvern Theatre in Swindon is named after the mythical wyvern that was once the emblem of the kings of Wessex. It was opened on September 7^th, 1971 by the Queen and Prince Philip.

The theatre has entertained generations of theatre-goers with a showstopping variety of live entertainment and in 2017 it won an award as the Best Theatre in the South West.
